Debris Removal Update – 9/15 @ 4 PM
For the past two weeks, trucks contracted with the City of Katy have been clearing out Hurricane Harvey flood-related debris from the streets within the city limits. These operations will continue from today through Friday, September 29, 2017. After that day, there will be no longer be trucks performing debris removal. In light of this fact, the City of Katy is asking for your assistance in assuring that your eligible flood debris is removed by this date. Please try to make all efforts to have all flood debris out on the right-of-way no later than 7:00 a.m. on Monday, September 25. A final pass will be made through the residential areas starting on that day. Please note that if a truck passes your area on Monday, September 25, that will be the final time the area will be driven past.
Please keep in mind that these trucks will be retrieving Hurricane Harvey flood-related debris ONLY. This includes construction and demolition debris from gutting flood-damaged houses, as well as household hazardous waste (paint cans and other chemicals), electronic waste, and white goods (household appliances). New construction debris is NOT eligible to be picked up – that is the responsibility of the homeowner or the contractor performing the work. Please note that there are monitors accompanying the removal trucks who will not allow any ineligible debris to be picked up. We thank you for your assistance in this matter.
