The City of Katy has developed one of the finest Emergency Medical Service (EMS) organizations in the State of Texas. As other city governments have contracted EMS providers or have let county EMS provide medical care, the City of Katy has opted to let the fire department assume the responsibility of the EMS providing advanced levels of pre-hospital care using superlative equipment and the finest apparatus.
The City of Katy ambulances are Mobile Intensive Care Units (MICUs) and are supported by state-of-the-art equipment and highly trained personnel who provide the citizens of Katy with excellent care and response times. The paramedics are trained in trauma care, bio-terrorism, hazardous materials, disaster response, and SWAT medical techniques. While in route to the hospital, patients can receive advanced cardiac monitoring, airway management, fetal monitoring along with many other skills to aid you during your emergency. The City of Katy medical personnel continue their education in order to learn the newest and most advanced techniques and procedures to help serve the public to the best of their ability.
In order to provide the citizens with the utmost care, the City of Katy EMS has placed Automatic External Defibrillators (AEDs) purchased by the city in ambulances, fire trucks, police cars, and various city buildings that will provide a valuable link in the Chain of Survival and substantially increasing survivability. Additional information on AED’s can be found on the website under CPR/AED’s.
