First Street Improvements
The City of Katy held a Town Hall meeting on Thursday, November 8 from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm to discuss the First Street improvements from Cane Island Branch to Cane Island Parkway. The workshop was open to the public and at City Hall Council Chambers at 901 Avenue C.
You may download the Town Hall presentation here.
Here is a summary of the project:
Construction began Monday, November 5 and will last approximately 12 months. This project will focus on 3 areas of improvement:
- New storm sewers under the asphalt paving as well as storm inlets at each intersection off First Street to improve drainage.
- New three lane concrete paved road beginning at Bartlett Road extending west to the former Carolina Street railroad crossing. The pavement will have one east bound lane, one west bound lane and one protected turn lane.
- New 5ft wide and ADA Compliant sidewalks on the east side of Cane Island Parkway to Bartlett Road.
During the span of the project we appreciate your cooperation and patience as there will be 4 phases of street closures from Ave D to the former Carolina Street railroad crossing during the span of the project.
