Raymond (Ray) Boothe was born in Anahuac, Texas in 1962 and graduated from Houston’s Sharpstown High School in 1981. After graduating from The University of Texas in 1985 with a degree in accounting, Ray began working in the financial industry. A Certified Financial Planner, Ray worked for TransAmerica Mutual Funds Company until 1990, when he joined his wife to launch Boothe Insurance Agency. Ray continues to manage Boothe Insurance, specializing in commercial insurance. In 2013, they purchased commercial property off Avenue D in Katy for Boothe Insurance. A victim of the April 2016 Katy flood, the property has recently been restored and updated.
Ray met Shari Hart Boothe during college. Shari graduated from Texas A&M University in 1985 with a degree in agricultural economics; and currently serves the City of Katy on the Convention & Tourism Bureau. Ray and Shari married in 1986 and moved to Katy in 1991. Together, they have four children: Joshua, Christina Hannah and SarahBeth.
Joshua and Christina currently work in the Katy/West Houston area. Joshua (24), graduated from the University of Houston-Victoria in 2016 with degrees in accounting and finance, where he played baseball. He joined Boothe Insurance upon graduation. Christina (22), graduated from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi in 2015 with a degree in marketing. She is the author of a science fiction novel The Mastering under her pseudonym CR Beck. Hannah (18) is their special needs blessing and receives private tutoring. Sarah (15) is a sophomore in high school.
Ray has been a Christian since age 12. He values serving others and giving back to his community. From 1992-2008, he was involved with Connecting Business Men to Christ. CBMC is a movement committed to the evangelism and discipleship of men. In 2006, he began working with the West Houston Thunder, a home school baseball organization. He served as the Varsity Head Coach from 2006-2014. Currently, he and Joshua serve together as Intermediate Assistant Coaches for the program. Initially a varsity only program, the program now boasts 5 teams from elementary through high school. He also serves on the board of Memorial Ashford Little League (2008 to present) and is a member of the NRA.
Prior to his appointment to City Council, Ray served on the City Planning and Zoning Board from 2015-2017. When asked to serve a vacated city council position, Ray and Shari prayerfully considered if this was where God was leading him. Believing it is, Ray is determined to humbly serve the citizens of Katy as a city councilmember to the best of his ability.
